A meaningful social responsibility event was held in Burdur. A visit was organized in collaboration with Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Gölhisar Vocational School of Health Services and MAKÜ Aging Studies Application and Research Center, aimed at increasing intergenerational interaction and promoting the cultural richness of Gölhisar district for the residents of Burdur Hilmi Hafize Evin Nursing Home. The planned workshops within the scope of the event were conducted by Prof. Dr. Deniz Say Şahin, Lecturer Gülnihal Altun, and Lecturer Sevgi Gezer Akyol.

Within the program, Lecturer Gülnihal Altun provided information about the cultural values of Gölhisar and highlighted the contributions of the organized workshops to the sensory and cognitive development of elderly individuals. It was emphasized that the workshop applications especially support memory, attention, and social interaction skills.

In the workshops, the use of black cumin, one of the local products of Gölhisar district, came to the forefront. Participants took part in applications prepared with black cumin, a natural product. The Medusa portrait created within this scope was among the most striking works of the event. This unique portrait prepared using black cumin was appreciated for both its artistic aspect and cultural transmission.

On the other hand, Prof. Dr. Deniz Say Şahin introduced MAKÜ YAŞAM to the students of the Home Care Department of Gölhisar Vocational School of Health Services, providing information about the studies, research activities, and services for the elderly conducted within the center. He emphasized that such activities contribute to the psychosocial well-being of the elderly and create an important ground for preserving local cultural elements, inviting students to work together.

Thanks to the visit, a strong communication bond was established between young people and elderly individuals, supporting intergenerational interaction. The event contributed to the social life of the nursing home residents and was an important experience for the students. The workshops once again highlighted the unifying power of art and the importance of transferring cultural values from generation to generation.
